Osmington Mill Garlic
Margaret River, WA
Osmington Mill Garlic is a small family owned farm situated on the historic Osmington Wood Mill property about 20 km from Margaret River. With our children, Phoebe and Blake, we moved from the Perth hills to the Group Settlement cottage on the property next door to ours in 2005. And in December 2006 we moved into our hand built home. In 2010 we began building up our garlic stocks with the plan to sell organically produced garlic at the local markets and online.

We initially planted a number of different varieties to see which grew best in our soils and climate. As the farm was previously part of a highly successful wool growing operation and more recently used to raise beef cattle, weed control is a major task. As we do not use chemical sprays to control weeds, weeding has become a full-time occupation. 2013 saw the realisation of our plan. We currently have three types of garlic available to sell to the public: a Turban group Purple Stripe, an artichoke group Osmington White (Californian) and a Creole group Rojo. All of our garlic is hand planted, hand weeded and hand harvested; as Richard says our garlic is Handmade . Richard and Jeanette Smith

At Osmington Mill Garlic we aim to produce the best garlic possible without the use of chemical fertilisers or sprays.
